So close but so far.

Hey Family!

How is everyone? I had a great week up here in Rockport. I love having a new companion. It really is a nice change of pace. Once you get a companion who doesn’t know the area, it’s nice because you choose how you work, who you go visit, and how the area is run. I love it. Good things are coming soon for sure. I really want to set this area up for success. There is truly a ton of potential here.

So, this week we got a new investigator who is really a miracle. His name is James. He is the son of my first convert Troy. He is really cool and accepted everything super easily. His Dad’s testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was powerful. He testified and his son just knew it was true. We challenged him to be baptized. He accepted and we set a date for the 28th of February. That should be a really cool baptism because his Dad should be able to baptize him! It will be really cool seeing someone you baptized baptize his own son. I have super high hopes for James.

So, I don’t think I mentioned this but we were supposed to baptize our investigator D* 2 weeks ago. He got interviewed and passed. He chose me to baptize him. We told his Dad and he was offended that D* didn’t pick him so we talked D* into getting baptized by his Dad. But, the kicker is that he’s not yet worthy to baptize somebody. We got him an interview with the Branch President and he will have to wait about a month to be able to baptize his son as long as he doesn’t mess up in the repentance process. Please be praying for D* dad to have the strength to overcome temptation. He needs the prayers for sure.

A little update on our other investigators. Morgan is still coming to church every week. He is still trying to get the divorce figured out so he can get married and be baptized. Dillon is progressing really well and has been to church three times. He just needs to get married to his girlfriend. They are having a baby soon so he doesn’t want it to feel like he’s marrying her because he got her pregnant. But, hopefully everything works out. We have a ton of potential, we just need the hand of the Lord in these people’s lives for sure.

Elder Sanchez just barely left to McAllen for a district leader training so I will be with the Portland elders most of the week. Should be a lot of fun being in a three man! That’s about all for this week! Have a great week everyone!

Con Amor,

Elder Russell
