La Noche Mexicana

Hey Family!

This week went super well! We had a really good week this week! It happened to be Mexican independence week this week and so we had a little “fiesta” in the chirch! It was so much fun. They had a lot of music and a MOUNTAIN of food for everybody. (we got a ton of leftovers) We were able to bring three people to that. It was Abraham, Ulysis, and Alby. All three are fairly new investigators of ours. They all have really good fellowship and I hope they all progress really well. Alby might be moving back up to Dallas this weekend if she gets a job, but if she doesn’t, she might get baptized in two weeks.

Abraham is so cool. He’s super prepared for the Gospel in his life but right as he started taking the discussions, he got a spiritual confirmation that Joseph Smith was a prophet. So, we were SO excited for him but right as he started praying and reading the scriptures, he got a brand new job. Blessings right? But, the bad part is he started working on Sundays. He recognizes the job was a direct blessing from God because of his obedience we just need to work on him getting the courage to ask for Sunday’s off.

We started teaching a new family! The familia Hinijosa. They are a family of 5 and it’s so cool because when we go over, all of them come out for the lessons and all listen. They didn’t have a chance to go to church because they had to go to the hospital in Mexico but they are for sure coming next week! They are way excited to learn more about Jesus Christ and how they can follow him.

Kind of a funny story from this morning. We were walking through some Bodegas searching for ties, and I stopped to talk to this really friendly guy who we always chat with on Mondays. He said he didn’t have any ties, and we started walking away and he shouted “wait!” We turned around and his employee had a HUGE sack of pure ties. It was great. We found so many great ones. Probably the best dig I have had in my mission. I’ll send Pics.
I want to thank you all for all of the Birthday wishes! I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world right now on my 20th birthday than serving the Lord. This work makes me so happy. Jesus Christ has changed my life. It makes me happier every day that I can serve Him and act as a representative of Him.

Thank you guys for your support. It has been a crazy busy year on the mission and I can’t wait for this upcoming year of missionary work. It’s going to be great šŸ™‚

Much Love,

Elder Russell
